Tobago, one of the Caribbean's finest diving locations, becomes a magic kingdom below the surface of the sea. Fringing and offshore reefs surround this little island, making it a diver's (or snorkller's) paradise. A rich sub-sea flora and fauna is supported by the mix of nutrients from the Guyana current and the Orinoco River. Hundreds of fish species thrive amidst forests of hard and soft corals; turtles; sharks and giant manta rays cruise the turquoise waters. Some of the best diving in Tobago is to be found in the north, off the villages of Speyside and Charlotteville. Little Tobago Island is a favourite dive site, partly because of the giant mantas that are frequently sighted in the area. One of the world's largest recorded brain corals is also to be found in these waters. Several dive shops operate on the island, providing the visitor with a choice of instructors, dive guides and equipment rentals.
